BRIO regularly measures their carbon footprints and identifies opportunities to reduce energy use and CO2 emissions. For instance, BRIO's Ravensburg facility and administration building run on renewable energy, while their Czech production site is powered by its own photovoltaic system.

To conserve natural resources, BRIO ensures products are designed to have the longest possible lifecycle and will be enjoyed by many family generations. The main materials used are recycled paper and cardboard, mostly sourced in Europe, and are FSC® certified paper, cardboard, and wood to support sustainable forest management.

BRIO are committed to reducing single-use plastics and increasing the use of recycled materials in both paper and plastics. Enhancing the recyclability of products and packaging while exploring eco-friendly alternatives like fossil-based plastics derived from fossil fuel oils. In the GraviTrax Junior product range, Ravensburger mainly uses a mix of organic plastic and FSC® certified wood fibers, with bio-plastic made from renewable materials like vegetable fats which do not compete with food production.
